Periodontograma
Probe six sites per tooth, record margin, depth, bleeding, plaque, mobility and furcations, and compare exams to see whether the periodontal treatment is working.

The Periodontal chart block sits right after the Odontogram in the visit. It lists every chart of the patient — not only today’s — so the initial exam, the re-evaluation and each maintenance visit read as one series. A visit can hold more than one chart: before and after a scaling session, for example.

Lista todos los periodontogramas del paciente —no solo el de hoy—, así el examen inicial, la reevaluación y cada mantenimiento se leen como una serie. - The list El listado
- Every chart of the patient, newest first, with the visit it was taken in, the kind of exam and its summary. The arrows compare it with the chart before it: green is better. Todos los periodontogramas del paciente, del más reciente al más antiguo, con la consulta en que se tomaron, el tipo de examen y su resumen. Las flechas lo comparan con el anterior: verde es mejor.

- Open edits a chart whose visit is still open. Charts from finalized visits open read-only (View). Delete only exists while the visit is open. Abrir edita un periodontograma cuya consulta sigue abierta. Los de consultas finalizadas se abren en solo lectura (Ver). Eliminar solo existe mientras la consulta está abierta.

The full-screen window La ventana a pantalla completa
A periodontal chart has 192 sites on the permanent teeth alone, so it opens in its own full-screen window. The top bar holds the exam type, the primary-teeth switch, auto-advance and Save; under it, a summary that updates as you type.
Un periodontograma tiene 192 puntos solo en las piezas permanentes, por eso se abre en su propia ventana a pantalla completa. La barra superior tiene el tipo de examen, el interruptor de dientes temporales, el avance automático y Guardar; debajo, un resumen que se actualiza mientras escribes.

- Exam Examen
- Initial exam, re-evaluation or maintenance. It is what the analysis and the list show. Examen inicial, reevaluación o mantenimiento. Es lo que muestran el análisis y el listado.
- Primary teeth Dientes temporales
- Adds the primary arches (55–65, 85–75) for a mixed dentition. Tick “Primary only” for a child without permanent teeth. The summary only counts the teeth on screen. Agrega las arcadas temporales (55–65, 85–75) para una dentición mixta. Marca «Solo temporales» para un niño sin piezas permanentes. El resumen solo cuenta las piezas que se ven.
- Auto-advance Avance automático
- One digit is a full reading and the cursor jumps to the next site — you can dictate a quadrant without touching the mouse. Turn it off to type 10 mm or more. - Saving is explicit (also Ctrl+S). Closing with unsaved changes asks first. Esc closes. Se guarda con el botón (o Ctrl+S). Si cierras con cambios sin guardar, te pregunta antes. Esc cierra.
- Summary strip Franja de resumen
- Updates while you type: mean probing depth and attachment level, % bleeding and plaque, sites ≥ 4 and ≥ 6 mm. Values of concern turn red. Se actualiza mientras escribes: profundidad y nivel de inserción medios, % de sangrado y placa, puntos ≥ 4 y ≥ 6 mm. Los valores de riesgo se ponen en rojo.
Reading and filling the chart Cómo leer y llenar el periodontograma
Each arch has four blocks: the buccal rows, the buccal drawing, the palatal (or lingual) drawing and its rows. The lower arch is a mirror image, so the crowns of both arches face the bite. Every tooth has three sites per face — distal, middle and mesial — and mesial always faces the midline.
Cada arcada tiene cuatro bloques: las filas vestibulares, el dibujo vestibular, el dibujo palatino (o lingual) y sus filas. La arcada inferior va en espejo, así las coronas de ambas arcadas miran a la mordida. Cada pieza tiene tres puntos por cara —distal, medio y mesial— y mesial siempre mira a la línea media.
- Cross out the absent teeth by clicking their number, and mark the implants.

- Probe quadrant by quadrant. Type the gingival margin and the probing depth of each site; with auto-advance on, one digit moves to the next site.

- Mark bleeding, plaque and suppuration with a click on each dot.

- Save (or Ctrl+S). You can close and reopen it until the visit is finalized.

- Click the number to mark the tooth absent: its column greys out and it no longer counts. 18 in the example. Clic en el número para marcarla ausente: su columna se pone gris y deja de contar. La 18 en el ejemplo.

- Implant replaces the drawing with a fixture. Mobility (Miller 0–3) cycles with each click; 2 or more shows red. Implante cambia el dibujo por un implante. Movilidad (Miller 0–3) cambia con cada clic; 2 o más se marca en rojo.
- Furcation Furca
- Hamp I–III, only where the tooth has one: buccal, mesio- and disto-palatal on upper molars, buccal and lingual on lower molars, mesial and distal on 14 and 24. Hamp I–III, solo donde la pieza la tiene: vestibular, mesiopalatina y distopalatina en molares superiores, vestibular y lingual en molares inferiores, mesial y distal en 14 y 24.

- One dot per site: red, blue and yellow. Click to toggle. Un punto por sitio: rojo, azul y amarillo. Clic para marcar o quitar.

- Width in mm on the buccal face. 1 mm or less shows red (13 in the example). Ancho en mm en la cara vestibular. 1 mm o menos se marca en rojo (la 13 en el ejemplo).

- Always in this order. The attachment level is calculated, never typed. Depths of 4 mm or more are red. Siempre en este orden. El nivel de inserción se calcula, nunca se escribe. Las profundidades de 4 mm o más van en rojo.

- The red line is the gingival margin, the blue line the bottom of the pocket; the blue band between them is the pocket. The grey line is the CEJ, and each grid line is 2 mm. La línea roja es el margen gingival, la azul el fondo de la bolsa, y la banda azul entre ambas es la bolsa. La línea gris es el LAC y cada línea de la cuadrícula son 2 mm.
Gingival margin and attachment level Margen gingival y nivel de inserción
The gingival margin is measured from the cemento-enamel junction (CEJ). Write 0 when the margin is at the CEJ, the distance without sign when it is coronal to it (over the crown), and the distance with a minus sign when there is a recession. The clinical attachment level is never typed: SmilePro calculates it.
El margen gingival se mide desde el límite amelocementario (LAC). Escribe 0 cuando el margen está yuxta al LAC, la distancia sin signo cuando está coronal (sobre la corona) y la distancia con signo menos cuando hay recesión. El nivel de inserción clínica nunca se escribe: SmilePro lo calcula.
- Round intermediate readings up: 3.5 mm is recorded as 4.
- Redondea las lecturas intermedias hacia arriba: 3,5 mm se registra como 4.
- A negative attachment level is possible: the margin is over the crown and part of the pocket lies on enamel (a pseudo-pocket).
- Un nivel de inserción negativo es posible: el margen está sobre la corona y parte de la bolsa queda sobre esmalte (pseudobolsa).
Primary and mixed dentition Dentición temporal y mixta
Press Primary teeth to add the primary arches (55–65 and 85–75) between the permanent ones. For a child with no permanent teeth yet, tick Primary only. Only the teeth on screen are saved and counted in the summary, and switching back and forth while editing loses nothing.
Pulsa Dientes temporales para agregar las arcadas temporales (55–65 y 85–75) entre las permanentes. Para un niño sin piezas permanentes aún, marca Solo temporales. Solo se guardan y se cuentan en el resumen las piezas que se ven, y alternar mientras editas no borra nada.
The analysis El análisis
The Analysis tab turns the chart into the numbers you report to the patient: plaque and bleeding indices, the share of sites at 4, 5 and 6 mm or more, and the mean depth, recession and attachment level — side by side with another exam of the same patient.
La pestaña Análisis convierte el periodontograma en las cifras que le explicas al paciente: índices de placa y sangrado, el porcentaje de puntos a 4, 5 y 6 mm o más, y la profundidad, recesión y nivel de inserción medios, al lado de otro examen del mismo paciente.
- Compare with Comparar con
- Any other chart of the patient. By default, the one before this. The earlier chart is always the baseline. Cualquier otro periodontograma del paciente. Por defecto, el anterior a este. El más antiguo es siempre la base.
- Percent of sites Porcentaje de puntos
- Plaque, bleeding and the 4 / 5 / ≥ 6 mm rows are over every site of the teeth present. Placa, sangrado y las filas de 4 / 5 / ≥ 6 mm se calculan sobre todos los puntos de las piezas presentes.
- Means Medias
- Probing depth, recession and attachment level are averaged over the probed sites only, so a half-finished chart does not look healthier than it is. Profundidad, recesión y nivel de inserción se promedian solo sobre los puntos sondados, así un periodontograma a medias no parece más sano de lo que es.
Did the treatment work? ¿Funcionó el tratamiento?
With a comparison chart picked, the second part follows every site from the earlier exam to the later one: where each initial depth ended, and whether bleeding changed with it. It is the re-evaluation after basic periodontal therapy, in one screen.
Con un periodontograma de comparación elegido, la segunda parte sigue cada punto del examen anterior al posterior: dónde terminó cada profundidad inicial y si el sangrado cambió con ella. Es la reevaluación después del tratamiento periodontal básico, en una sola pantalla.
- Depth by depth Profundidad por profundidad
- Each row groups the sites by their earlier depth and shows where they ended. Only sites probed in both exams, on teeth present in both, count. Cada fila agrupa los puntos por su profundidad anterior y muestra dónde terminaron. Solo cuentan los puntos sondados en los dos exámenes, en piezas presentes en ambos.
- The chart El gráfico
- Bars under the dashed line are improvement: the pockets got shallower. Las barras por debajo de la línea discontinua son mejoría: las bolsas se hicieron menos profundas.
- PD / BOP and χ² PS / BOP y χ²
- Crosses the change in depth with the change in bleeding. A small p (under 0.05) means both moved together — in the example, the sites that stopped bleeding are mostly the ones that got shallower. Cruza el cambio de profundidad con el cambio de sangrado. Una p pequeña (menor de 0,05) indica que se movieron juntos: en el ejemplo, los puntos que dejaron de sangrar son sobre todo los que redujeron su profundidad.
Once the visit is finalized its charts are read-only, but they stay in the list and in the analysis of every later chart.
Con la consulta finalizada sus periodontogramas pasan a solo lectura, pero siguen en el listado y en el análisis de todos los posteriores.
